Design of Experiments

Design of Experiments (DoE) is a powerful and practical way to analyse multifactor process/product variances. This course provides practical, hands-on training in the application of Design of Experiments (DoE), exploring the essential elements that range from upfront requirements needed to launch an experiment (planning, resource support, stakeholder approvals) all the way through to running the experiment and analysing results. The training explores different types of DoE which are suitable for a wide variety of applications and market sector uses for both product development to process optimisation.

Variation & Tolerance Analysis

Understanding the effect of input variation on output performance via tolerancing has been traditionally been done via ‘worst case’ or statistical (RSS) approaches. Now that Monte Carlo Analysis can be performed via Minitab, we showcase the use of this powerful and flexible tool. We also turn to the progression from the critical to design measures (CTDs) and the processes that will create them and their critical to process measures (CTPs).  Finally, we look at effective piloting of new processes as part of process development.

Value Engineering

This training workshop is a gateway module to identify the value and cost issues facing a design team. These are then assessed to determine what actions are necessary to address them. The VE method is fully described and practiced, showing delegates how to assess any product design to optimise its value to the customer.

Quality Function Deployment

QFD is a powerful development technique that ensures customer requirements drive the new product introduction process. Simple matrices are used to capture & analyse information, & delegates progress through the key stages of prioritising customer requirements & technical characteristics, selecting concepts, design deployment & production control, & managing the overall QFD process.

Measurement System Analysis

Manufacturers are becoming increasingly aware of the need to obtain adequate confidence in their measurement systems. This is important for process control, for the assurance of quality, and for process improvement. This highly practical course will enable delegates to assess the performance of new and existing measurement systems, and considers how improvements can be introduced when they are found to be necessary.
